What we collect

We only collect data necessary to operate the app:

• Account data — email address, display name (on signup)
• Expense data — receipts, amounts, merchants, categories, dates, currencies
• Mileage data — trip routes (start, destination, distance), if you use the mileage tracker
• Device data — browser type, OS (for error analysis)
• Usage data — page views, feature usage (via Google Analytics 4)

Why we collect it

• To provide and improve the expense tracking service
• To power AI receipt extraction and spending analysis
• To send transactional emails (password reset, subscription confirmation)
• To generate reports and exports for you
• To process payments via Stripe (we never see or store your card number)

What we don't do

• We never sell your data to third parties
• We never use your expense data for advertising
• We don't require bank account connections
• We don't track you across other websites

Third-party services

We use a small number of trusted services to operate Expense Lens. Each handles only the minimum data necessary.

Data retention

• Account data — stored while your account is active
• Receipt images — stored until you delete the expense or your account
• On account deletion — all data permanently removed within 30 days

Your rights

You can at any time:

• Unsubscribe from emails (link in every email)
• Export your data as CSV from the app
• Delete your account from app Settings → Delete account
• Request a copy or deletion of your data by email

Cookies

The landing page uses Google Tag Manager for anonymous visit analytics. The app uses essential cookies for authentication only — no tracking cookies, no ad cookies. You can decline analytics cookies; the app works fully without them.

Changes

If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll notify you by email. Minor clarifications may be made without notice.
